Karibuni!
Four years ago I first travelled to Tanzania as part of a study abroad program at Earlham College. For those of you who don't already know, I am headed back in less than three weeks! March 11 I will be leaving the states for an indefinite period of time, spending a few weeks travelling with my friend Liz and her aunt Kate. We will be spending a week in Rwanda, a week in Arusha, Tanzania, and then a week in Zanzibar. On March 31, Liz will head home and my solo adventures will begin. I am looking into volunteer opportunities with a number of organizations in East Africa, and most promising right now is a chance to work with a Quaker organization in Bujumbura, Burundi that works with women who are HIV+, providing couseling, testing and services to their families.
The last time I travelled, I tried to stay in touch through email. It worked well in the beginning (except for the vast majority of you who just recieved giant emails in your inboxes that you never read), but over time, I stopped writing, and I am sure long before that happened you stopped reading. So I'm going to try something different this time - BLOGGING!
Make it a favorite or never visit, its up to you. I won't inundate you with emails, and I'll try to update my adventures frequently. Over the next few weeks while I'm still in the states, I'm going to try to experment with this (since it's still pretty new to me). Feel free to leave me comments, suggestions, or just let me know what you think!
I am looking forward to hearing from you,
You are all in my thoughts as I start this new adventure in my life!
